The powerful and enlightened bassist, songwriter, and music educator Olivia Salas is lighting up this episode with so much knowledge and passion. Olivia was recently appointed Principal Bassist of the Savannah Philharmonic, and she's speaking to us from her other creative world in Los Angeles - where she works as a Teaching Artist and Education/Curriculum Coordinator for the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (YOLA) program. Among many other wildly interesting stories, Olivia details what led to her first GRAMMY nomination in 2021 for her songwriting and bass playing contributions to Leon Bridge’s latest album, Golddiggers Sound.

Scotland-based American conductor Kellen Gray showcases his talent and imagination at every turn in this episode. Kellen is the current Assistant Conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (UK) and Associate Conductor of the Charleston Symphony (USA). A native of South Carolina, Kellen describes the many folk music styles of the southeastern United States as his earliest and most impactful musical influences. He also gives us a glimpse into his upcoming guest-conductor performance at Savannah's Lucas Theatre, August 26th - and he so eloquently explains the manic and manicured sides of The Genius of Mozart.
